God Damn it is Cold!

So winter has finally arrived in Brisbane. The wind howled all weekend and it was too cold and blustery out to really do much, which was a pity because I had plenty to do!

Alex being away was actually nice for a change. I enjoyed having some time to myself, which I have been missing since he moved back up here full time. After Friday's argument and resulting discussion I've been doing a lot of thinking. I need something more in my life. Alex complains that I'm up and down like a yoyo over my job, and I guess I am. The problem is that it's the only area in my life right now where I have reasonable social interaction and can derive a sense of acheivement/fullfilment. I go to work every day and the evenings are spent with Alex now. Weekends we usually catch up with the same small group of friends for a meal, but there's little else to constructively "do". So now that I should at least have access to a car of an evening I'm considering taking some kind of class - probably drawing or something else creative, so i can do stuff at home too. I draw already, but my technique is lacking and I think I'd enjoy a class - be a nice opportunity to meet some new people too.

As is normal for my age, a lot of my friends have moved away. you finish uni and get a job somewhere, or you realise you need a change and just go. So my social circle has been steadily shrinking. My workmates haven't turned out to be my kind of people, so no new friends there. Perhaps a class is the way to go.

In the mean time, Alex and I are doing better. Once we both calmed down enough to talk rationally we sorted a lot out. Now we just need to put our plans into action. After 4.5 years you don't give up without one hell of a fight!

Last night Brett and I hired out "lost in Translation", which all 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed. Some of the cinematography was magnificent and highly original. And the plot was good too! This got me thinking of a conversation with Damon (Urbanhog) about movies to recommend. This one definitely makes the list. But what do you recommend?
