Currumbin Beach

Looking south towards Coolangatta and my childhood home, Tweed Heads.
Currumbin Beach is at the southern end of the Gold Coast, just down the road from my old high school. The beach is fairly small, bordered by Elephant Rock to the south and wave rock to the north. Beyond wave rock is Currumbin estuary, mouth of the clean and happy Currumbin creek, in which I have swum many times through my childhood in both its salt and fresh reaches. A little over an hour from home, this quiet spot is close to Alex's parents and away from the major tourist areas to the north and south. Not a bad place to be on a Sunday afternoon.

A true local haunt
