Well it didn't take me very long to figure out I didn't want to be at work today, so after about 3 hrs of whining I begged off and logged a tonne of paper-work with me to go work at home. I was tired, grumpy and fuzzy-headed from paracetamol. Work from home hey? Riiight...

So I grabbed a cab and scooted on home, to discover I had my very own welcoming committee waiting:

Apologies for the dodgy phone-cam pic: it's the only digital I have. Sam also seems a little wary of the real camera and refused to stay still long enough to get a good photo.

Anyway, after being jumped all over before I even got in the door I desperately needed a shower and a change of clean clothes. Ahh, hot water on a sore back! Of course, I huddled into a big fluffy jumper and ugg boots. I then had a spot of lunch and pottered around for a while, trying to gt my disaster of an apartment into some sort of order. Whilst putting things away in my room I decided my back might appreciate a quick lie-down to relax the muscles. Well that became a 2 hr snooze as I reallised how tired I was and that coffee is not a suitable substitute for sleep. Now I'm slowly waking back up, with a cup of peppermint tea to lift my spirits. After sitting by my door for 5 hours I also relented and let Sammy in the house. I'm such a soft touch...

Here is a charming picture of what male dogs indeed do best. It was the most still I could get Sam for a photo. Please don't judge me on this ;-)

Right now he's snuffling and rolling about on the carpet. Earlier he was chewing on macadamia nuts. Smart dog has leant there is nutty goodness inside and the shells are fun to chew. He's a very smart dog (always finds a way out of his yard), but is too scatter-brained to train easily. His pal Jessie is just plain dumb.

She only gets out when someone kindly leaves the gate open for her. Also took her a lot longer to work out how to get to my door for attention. She used to just whine at the balcony from the ground. She also thinks you're scolding her when you ask her to stay still for a photo.

But we love them both and have been walking them for our neighbour for years now. If we had our own house I think we'd dog-nap them. Ok, maybe just Sam. Anyway, they're part of our little family now and I wouldn't have it any other way!
