Some more garden glory

My poor garden is suffering from neglect. The lawn is full of dandelions and milk thistles, the front beds are over-run by weeds, the pruning's long overdue and there's a mammoth amount of potting to do. But still I have some flowers (like these bush irises), the tomatoes are ripening and we're still getting the odd strawberry.

No pumpkins yet, though the vines have plenty of flowers. I think we planted them too late in the season, especially given the mildness this summer. There are still some late capsicums ripening on the plants by the front door (they came up from the compost in my lavender bed) and the ones we've eaten so far have been mighty tasty.

I bought coriander, dill and Italian parsley at the markets last weekend. They're waiting for tomorrow's forecast of 30^oC to pass before I plant them out. I'm looking forward to having fresh dill on hand again. And maybe, just for once, the coriander won't bold straight to seed.

In all honesty though, the garden here is too big for us to manage by ourselves. We don't get enough time to take care of it on top of working, managing the fish tanks, going to gym, creating good food, keeping the house in check and everything else that catches our interest (that's the trouble when most everything is interesting - we're both hopeless information addicts too). We still haven't got a replacement housemate for Josh and the expense has eaten away at my savings completely. We love our house though, and it will be a sad day when we have to move on.

In the meantime, I'm going to keep enjoying the garden while we've got it, and take plenty of photos of it's earthly delights.
