August, the last month of winter in my wide, brown land. In theory, anyway. Autumn decided to give winter a miss this year, and it seems we weren't too keen on spring either, so we're launching straight into summer. It's been over 27 degrees this weekend and dry as hell. Tress are starting to die back and some are dieing completely, and the real heat is still to come. It's going to be one hell of a bushfire season. Weather forcasts are extremely gloomy, with a late El Nino forming at the moment, meaning another summer of well-below average rainfall and searing temperatures. We haven't had decent rain for years, and many major cities are facing major water shortages. At least it might provide the required stimulus to drive real water reforms. For the dryest inhabited continent we are in the top 3 water using nations with our per-capita water use, and it's about to hit crunch. Should at least keep me employed though.

Finally up-loaded some photos from the new camera for your viewing pleasure. Have a tonne of great photos from the trip up the Sunshine Coast last weekend to scan in too. Very happy with my most recent films - I can see my photography progressing. Meanwhile, here's a touch of Australiana...
