The beautiful wet weather has continued, with a storm yesterday evening and a beautiful cool grey day today. Yesterday reached 35oC, so the storm was most welcome (although my office reached a maximum of 18 - brrrr!) The crows are still busy as ever, though their chicks are fledged now and tentatively climbing out of the nest. Despite my best attempts to be organised, life has again descended into choas thanks to a timely dose of insomnia :-P It's strange to be more relaxed at work than at home! Hopefully a big sleep tonight and bailing on work on Friday will see things sorted :-)

Sam, one of the dogs we are looking after, did a runner last night in the storm. One minute he was by the door; a thunderclap later he was gone! Thankfully he invaded the home of some nice, eccentric people around the corner who called the council who then called me. Phew! Nearly didn't get him though, as the council describes him as a very black, long-haired samoyd cross. Someone ought to tell them he got a summer hair cut!

I don't know how [livejournal.com profile] rural_rob gets Baxter and Bailey to sit so still for the camera. No matter how often I try, Sam & Jessie refuse to sit still. Perhaps I should have had a go last night after we fed them brandied milk (to stop them fretting over the thunder), however I was as sleepy as they were and crawled off home to bed. Dragged myself off to work and eventually woke up properly at around 10am. Work is treating me well at the moment and hopefully this will continue into the next few months :-) Meanwhile, Brisbane is greener and more lush than I've ever seen it in summer. Eucalypts are blooming a-plenty, birds abound and the cicadas are warming up for a deafening January. Nature seems to be getting festive this year.
