shapeofthings: (snuggles)
Sunday evening and I'm feeling the best I've been in a good while. My week off was much needed, and although I didn't get the things I said done, I got the time and space I needed. The weekend was a good, productive one, which has just topped everything off on a high.

Yesterday we slept late and pottered around the house before driving down to Park Road to pick up my engagement ring from the jewellers. They'd had it to size up my wedder, which was presented to me when we got there to try on for approval. Something about looking at that ring on my finger made me feel all kinds of nervous excitement. =o) After that we went for coffee and takled a few other choses, which eventuated in lots of things bubbling p and then Alex and I talking about them. I got a lot of the noise out of my head then, a lot of the unsaid things, the worries, the hopes, the white noise that buzzed and built on my feelings of not being quite right.

We had dinner with friends last night, and Alex and I made dessert - simple lime puddings. Mmmmmmm. The whole meal was delicious, and I must say I'm impressed with tagine cooking. I borrowed "we free men" from our hosts, having read "a hat full of sky" in January. Following order is overrated. I read until 3 in the morning, when I made myself stop and snuggle under the covers. (Incidentally, I read "the curious incident of the dog in the night time" on Friday).

Woke up this morning actually feeling rested. Alex went out for criossants and came home with 4 and a pasta dura, so we breakfasted on warm croissants with guava jam adn big mugs of tea, me reading my book and Alex on the computer. Book finished, I got the day started, and went and sat on the stairs watching the rain. When it eased into a fine sort of mist I inspected my little garden, pleased to find some violas, daisy crisanths and some parsely shooting from last year's seeds. So we decided to run out to the nursery (I drove in the wet!) to pick up some seeds and mulch to hold in the moisture. Johnny-jump-ups, giant violas, sweet peas and a little mini snap-dragon thing. In 2 months we should have a nice patch of colour, just in time for good things. =o)

Dinner tonight of pasta dura with sage-matured cheddar and stuffed olives. Beer is in the freezer, rapid chilling. I can almost taste it...

So here's to a healing week off, and feeling more myself than I've done in a while. =o)
