Fieldwork: sleep deprived, battered and bruised. It's only week 1 of 5.

Slowly getting into synch with my partner, a Brazillian guy. A few issues though, especially as he's quitting smoking at the moment. Hopefully it'll get better (else I'll get stabby). Just about up to speed now, which helps.

I had ideas about writing a field work journal. Evidently, it'd been too long since I'd been out in the field. Barely conscious by day's end.

After today I'll only be home on weekends. Trekking around south of the city, west to the ranges, east to the coast and south to the Tweed.

Spending far too much time clambering over fallen trees or sinking in anoxic substrates. Nothing elegant or graceful about fishing waders, especially over 30oC.

Sound exiting? Add crawling through a lantana thicket. If that doesn't put you off, you've never tried going through a lantana thicket. Lucky.

No time for photography, and too scared to take the 400D out. I have the S1 just in case though. A shame there's no time to photograph the birds (fledgling lorikeets, finches, fairy wrens...)

In the mean time, here are some flowers. Taken last week @ Dickson St, Toowong. Just around the corner from where we used to live; never took a photo while we were there. Drove across town because I knew the flowers were out.

Cheers.
