It's a beautiful day, yeah

It's one of those magic Brisbane winter days today. It's crisp in the shade, but warm in the sun, with vast blue skies and not a cloud in sight. The perfect day to take out from the world, pull out the picnic blanket and sprawl about on the front lawn admiring the lush growth of clover and chasing after honey-bees. Two fishes in love, enjoying the day with nothing imposing on the agenda.

The last few days weeks months I've been working so hard just to keep my head above water. Too many balls in the air, taking responsibility for everything and fighting to make it through each day. Old friend depression's been lurking about and it's been busy, busy, busy, never a day where there wasn't a mental list of tasks to tick off. I was beginning to go stir-crazy!

So I did something unusual for me: I made the right choice instead of the sensible one. I've taken next week off work to give myself a break and some space, arguing around my stubborn reasoning that I should save up my leave to be paid out in case I don't get my job back later this month. No point sacrificing my sanity for an extra week's wages.

So today I cleared my schedule and spoilt myself just a little. Hey, it's a beautiful day, so you'd best enjoy it. =o)
