Flat days, mudflats, crabbiness...

Back at work after a lovely 4 day weekend, a little tired and my liver is probably a little worse for wear. The extra-long weekend was very much welcomed and enjoyed. Thursday night was drinks and dinner in black and white at Rob and Lou's. Friday was spent doing a bit of housework and getting the DSL connection up and running, then enjoying having a reasonable internet connection and downloading lots of stuff. Saturday we went to the Mayhem birthday bash at Roma Street parklands. The Mayhem crew ran the stage where Alex proposed, so we went along to say a heartfelt thankyou and ended up staying for the best part of a day. I danced like a goon to the outdoor beats as several semi-professional DJ's took to the decks and drank far too much. Sunday was passed sorting out RAM issues and generally being tired and lethargic. Monday was a day of action, with the housework finished off and a tonne of desk-bound chores taken care of. Computer favours done for all who asked and my huuuge pile of paperwork tackled: 2004 tax return finished, superannuation consolidated, credit card paid off and filing done. Hooray! For the first time in about 2 years I don't have a pile of paperwork baying for my attention. It's a lovely feeling!

Two major tasks remain for the immediate future: finally getting my honours work ready to publish and getting my manual driver's licence. Meeting with my supervisor on Friday to run over the new stats results and get cracking on the paper. Drove to work this morning again to progress the other. Had a crash lesson on getting out of a stall into reverse which left me kind of flustered! Life is slowly but surely slowing down and becoming more organised - a much-needed reprise from the chaotic existance of the last 2 years. Still getting up at a quarter-past five, though it's a little harder now I'm risen before the sun. The autumn mornings are delectable, and often hot air ballons are taking off just down the road when I get in to work <3. The light is lengthening into that sticky, yellowed glow I love so much, so photo-missions shall resume again soon. Meanwhile, these are the last of the photos from Stradbroke island, full cycle from a year ago and first stirrings of the photography bug. What a rewarding and healing journey it's been!

Yes, I am in love with the widescreen look at the moment. It suits a bunch of photos I've taken recently. I promise we'll return to normal transmissions soon!
