Good morning good morning...
Jul. 20th, 2004 07:32 amIt's strange to be this on-the-go at 7:30am. Got to work at ten past six again but did little until the sun made it's presence felt at seven. A little tired and cranky today as I didn't get much sleep: the idiots in the council are digging up the main road near my place to repair the gas pipes. This is the 4th time they've patched it in the the 3.5 years I've lived here. You think they'd have fixed it by now! They stopped using the heavy machinery (jackhammers & concrete saws) by 10pm, but the reverse alarm on the back-hoe nearly drove me nuts! They were still going when I got up at five this morning after punctuating my night with a mournful beep-beep-beep.
Once I started feeling semi-human I grabbed my cameras (had packed both the Cannon Prima & the SLR) and wandered around work taking photos of some of the more incongruous sites and a couple of amused workmen as well. Really still learning the basics of the SLR, but I found a few interesting sights. Have another area of the site still unexplored, so I think another morning wander will be in order.
Despite the tiredness I'm much more cheery this morning. Discovered it really was the come-down off the codeine and started to feel more like my usual self last night. Paracetamol is keeping the back largely content at this stage and I have some industrial-strength chocolate for when things get a little rough later in the day. I suspect tonight will be take-away and then bed - preferably heavy-machinery free :-)
