Been a while since I gave a real update - I guess I just haven't been in the mood. At work right now, a little tired and sore. My back still hasn't fully healed and an active weekend has resulted in a bit of tenderness. Alex woke me at 5am today to drive me in to work and I was sound asleep. Nearly 3 hours later I still don't seem to have recovered ;-)

We drove up to Cooloola National Park on Sunday. I desperately needed to get out of the city, so we headed north and had a ball. We stopped off at Eumundi for (bad) coffee, then continued via Cooroy and Pomona to Boreen Point before hitting the national park. Our plans for a barbeque were foiled by a $6 firewood fee, so we just went for a walk around Lake Cootharaba instead. We shot nearly 2 full rolls of film (one on the full auto, one on the ancient SLR), capturing a lace monitor (goanna), some banksia flowers, a pair of curlews, the lake and other assorted pretty bits of scenery.

Stomachs rumbling we headed back to Boreen Point for some lunch, then drove down through Tewantin to Noosa Heads. Crowded with tourists, Noosa was a bit scary, but Alex had never really seen the headland, so we took a peek, as well as frolicking a little at the water's edge, away from the tourists on the beach. We were both reluctant to begin the long drive home but eventually we made it and were nearly an hour late(!) for dinner at a friend's house (damn traffic jams). All in all a wonderful day which has only confirmed our desire to go up for a few days and stay. I'm quite keen to brush up on my canoe skills then row up the Noosa River to explore the National Park further.

Yesterday was the best day I've had a work for a long time. Now I just must motivate myself to get going again today. The rest of the week is looking pretty quiet, with a Gold Coast trip planned for the weekend to visit the parentals. Nothing too exciting, alas.

Hasta cuando locos...

I did it. I bought the Canon S1.

Oh, and a Manfrotti monopod, 512meg memory card, batteries & charger, polarising filter and carry bag. Yikes!
