A slice of caramel and sky

Well, this has been the most successful weekend I've managed in a while. Have to admit that I'm utterly shattered now, so clearly there's still a lot of improvement ahead of me.

Yesterday the boy and I had a huuuuge sleep in before tidying the house and doing the shopping. A workmate and her partner came over for afternoon tea and discussions about living and working in Brisbane, then we stayed up late laughing and reminiscing about things over a bottle of wine.

Celebrate the pale sun

Today I managed to drag myself out of bed at only a semi-slothful hour, despite it being about 4oC out, and set about putting things in order before deciding the day was too nice to waste and heading off for a walk around the neighbourhood (photos, yay!). What was supposed to be a half-hour stroll stretched into almost 2 hours (and involved a diversion to find a starfish to put on A's hand so I could be amused by his reaction when it suckered on and started moving across his palm - well worth it) and by the time we got home I was seriously wilting. Still, I rallied after some tea and knocked out a batch of quinoa cookies and started on dinner: slow roast pork in apple cider.

Let the colour catch your eye

Unfortunately I ran out of puff with dinner half-cooked and had to go have a rest. The boy, champion that he is, finished off dinner, did the dishes and generally spoilt me. Now I'm going to sink into a nice hot bath and crawl into bed, hoping that I haven't over-done it so much that I'll be paying for it tomorrow.

I hope this weekend treated you all kindly, and left some sunshine running through your veins.

Winter's flowing through your viens
