It's been quite a day really. After headbutting Alex in a feat of half-asleep uncoordinationess I decided to go back to sleep for a bit this morning and make my own way into work. An extra hour's kip made all the difference and I still got to work pretty early. Not too productive on the work front today as I'm still disagreeing with policy over where to next with the Project of Doom. There is, however, somewhere to go, with today marking the signing of a new 6-month contract. Apparently I was the sole applicant for my job, which suggests a general lack of masochists seeking new masters (Shame on them!). And not all is what we anticipated: I also got a payrise! Not sure how much yet, but I go up an increment, which is very nice. All this means I know where I'll be at for the next 6 months, which is very useful. I'll be financially stable and in a position to really get my shit sorted and work out where we are going. For now, this means finally buying the new computer we've been considering for a year. Hooray! Something to finally run Photoshop 8, which I unashamedly covet.

'Twas a stinking hot day today, although as usual there is a lovely breeze here at home (living ona hill top has some perks), so after walking home from the bus I donned the cossies and cooled off in next-door's pool. Good neighbours make the world go 'round sometimes. [livejournal.com profile] _cuddlefish_ is working back a little late tonight: seems his work wants to make him a machinery driver now! From general labour-hire grunt to driver is quite a shift, plus it means he gets to sit in the air-conditioned driver's booth through the worst of summer (it's back in the low 30s this week). Now that's what I call good timing!
