Houses, computers and christmas shite

Somebody pause the world please, I'd like some time out! Went down the coast on Friday night to visit my olds for the first time since we got engaged. Alex was quite nervous and we ended up going late, but all was well! If anything, the relationship with my parents has improved! Actually had a fun time and stayed up talking to mum until 1am. Of course, getting her a wee bit drunk helped - Mum's a bit too uptight, but with the aid of champagne she was relaxed and fun. The relationship with my parents hasn't always been good. Earlier this year things came to a head and I chucked a hissy-fit and insisted we all needed to get to know each other again as we were still following behavioural patterns set when I was 16 and had never left home. We've come a long way since then!
Saturday I awoke with hayfever (I'm allergic to my parent's carpet), so after brekkie we headed back home. A bit run down, we didn't get up to much, but sorted out what needed to be done over the coming week, set our selves up in the neighbours house, and most importantly, ordered our new PC. We're giving Alex's parents our old PC for xmas, so we'll be without for a week or there-abouts while waiting for the new one. Discovered yesterday evening that I immensly dislike house sitting when my homey, comfortable unit is just over the fence and I'm not at home in the house being sat. After trying unsucessfully to sleep for several hours I called it quits at 3:30am and went home!
Tired again today as a result of last night's sleep failure we soldiered on regardless. Caught the catfish out of the big fish tank and returned him to the creek from whence he came, having grown far too large and destructive to stay in my little fish community. Managed to polish off the last of the seasonal shopping with minimal fuss and were pleasantly surprised to find our local shopping centre (wonderfully devoid of children and crowds, unlike the larger centre in Indooroopilly) had a very good live choir singing. Made me feel all sentimental in a good way - not something that usually happens to this cynical Miss! Cooled off in the pool, washed, cleaned and now fed for the night. At the neighbours' place and about to watch Shrek 2. Will scramble over the fence afterwards and go to sleep in my own bed in my own wonderful flat!
Work for both of us tomorrow - ending up on xmas eve. Heading down to visit both sets of parentals on the day, back on Boxing day if all goes well. Meanwhile, going to be a busy week with little chance of photos what with reformatiing the hard drive ready to pass on the 'puter. Have a great time all, take care, and I'll check in later!
