There are 6 people gathered around the desk next to me, all talking rather loudly. This is quite annoying, though a mild improvement on the 8 people that were there before. Attempting to drown them out with some Platypus trance. Why is it that when I'm really down or cranky I forget to listen to music, even though it has a powerful ability to lift my mood?
Left work early yesterday after a very ordinary day. A visit by the insomnia daemon meant I'd had 4 hrs sleep and hassles with busses refusing to run on time, coupled with uber-humid weather and a general depressive mood meant I was pretty miserable by the time I got to work. Compounded by my small intestine feeling like it wanted to escape to the outside world, the general ickyness became too much and I decided to leave at 3, but missed the bus (it left early) so got out of work just before 4pm. Alex finally managed to convince me to eat at around 8pm, and blessedly my innards had given up their explorative inclinations and all was well. Was still feeling grumpy, bored and generally blah all evening, until I had the splendid idea to whack on one of the anime CDs I'd been lent by Hsuan...
"My Friend Totoro" cheered me in that terribly cute and rather trippy anime style and I was in much better spirits by bedtime. Sleep is still proving elusive, so I encouraged it along with some antihistamine and nodded off around 10:30pm. Bit of a sleep in this morning before heading into work and not missing my bus. Have gone off coffee (my tum0ache yesterday corresponded to coffee intake), and finding myself savaging the block of almond dark chocolate in my desk drawer. Not ideal, but I figure I can use the caffeine and endorphins today :-) My knee is still irritated (and irritating) so I've had to pass on exercise most of the week, so the chocolate will happily be heading straight for the thighs :-P
Not a great deal more to report. Have promised myself to process my huge backlog of photos before taking any more, so it may be a little dull around here for a while. New computer is having cooling issues and presently has the case sides removed. Anyone know anything about heat issues with the Athlon 64? Presently we think it's just the power supply that is overheating, so new case may be needed - recommendations? At least the humidity is supposed to drop tomorrow, though the forecast maximum is still 34 C. Nothing exciting lined up for the rest of the week - physio tomorrow night (and a possible catch-up with Lynne) and uni Friday after work. The weekend involves an attempt to broaden my social circle with a Bluelight meetup over beer and beats. Hopeful it will go well - we've reached that age where all our friends are leaving to follow job prospects etc and our social network has become a shadow of it's former self :-(
Of course, moving to Melbourne will counter this as I now have more friends on Melbourne than I do in Brisbane, however such a move is contingent on decent employment and is not a guarantee just yet. Not sure how I'd handle the weather either ;-) Anyhoo, I have work to do (though I'm putting it off because the directions are vague, the concepts at the upper stretches of my knowledge and experience, and the motivation minimal due to lack of workplace acknowledgement), thus concludes another mindless entry that you should have saved yourselves the effort of reading...
;-) Chao!
