Field work, weather and red wine.

As much as I might whinge and moan, field work really does agree with me. Well, provided I get enough sleep, anyway. I feel, and look, so much better for doing physical work outdoors, than sitting behind a computer all day.
A little better slept today - I was in bed by 8:30 and took a Stilnox (Ambien) just to be sure, though I don't think I needed it. Had some lovely aural hallucinations as I lay there, drifting off. Some of the sounds from the fish tank filter became frog calls, and I was listening to determine if I could hear 2 or 3 different species. Took me a while to realise they were hallucinations, as there's no way there'd be frogs around my place!
Still tired this morning though - I think I need a few 10 hour nights to catch up - so I intend to sleep late tomorrow and catch the bus in, as I won't be out in the field. Today we're of to a creek out at Ipswich, and it's going to be horrid. It's forecast 35oC here today, and Ipswich is always 2-3oC hotter. Bleugh. Oh, and the humidity is right up too, arouns 70-80%. Looking forward to going home, having a cold shower and heading to bed.
Meanwhile, I need to sort things out with the real estate, who say we were 7 days late with our rent this time. Seeing as our rent is on auto-pay, and this fortnight's rent came out exactly 14 days after the previous payment, which was 14 days after the payment before, and so on and so forth for the last 18 months, I don't understand how it could possibly be late! Unless it's taken them 18 months to figure out we were a week late to begin with? Anyway, I suspect I'm going to have to go in there with bank statements to prove the point.
Dinner for eight this Saturday, as the delayed Geeks and Squares evening finally happens. Should be fun, although I'm no longer looking forward to the cooking part, as the weather forecast is hideous again. I really should go buy an airconditioner to get me through this summer, despite my ethical reservations. 36oC on Saturday and it's only October!! All my red wine is going to spoil at this rate *cries*. Guess I'd best hurry up and organise that wine & cheese evening I've been talking about.
Ok, best start filling out my field sheets before my brain melts.
