Damn you Websense!
Jun. 30th, 2004 02:28 pmIn a perilous crises, yours truly is gradually losing access to everything interesting on the web as the IT guys get a clue. Access to LiveJournal is at present unblocked, but I'm having an awful lot of proxy server problems and most of the time I can't get on. All this means I may actually have to start finding work to do! With only 33k dial-up at home this presents a real problem, especially for the photographers I love to visit :-(
What else can I say? It's a new financial year tomorrow and we didn't get the funding for the research projects we proposed. So it's another 12 months of desktop studies and boring bits and peices. Time to start looking for a new job perhaps. It's very hard to remain motivated when you know your work gets ignored by the policy people anyway. It's even worse when you know the projects that got funded are all but useless without their research counterparts, which didn't get funding. So rest assured Queensland - your government is looking out for you! *sigh* it's such a waste of talented people and resources, made even sadder by the importance of the work we should be doing. I never knew the public service would be so demoralising...
In other news, Alex had a job interview today for that lab tech position. We're both really hopeful he gets it and I must admit to being on tenterhooks to hear how the interview went! Hopefully they'll get back to him about it sooner than they got back to him about his application! Otherwise, it's life as per usual for the rest of the week and an uneventful weekend on the horizon as Alex goes away to fix his car. I can't wait to have my car finished so I'm no longer dependent on Alex for a vehicle.
Adios!
